Wind Vane – Analog Direction Sensor

This high quality weather-proof wind vane / wind direction sensor is the same sensor found in our Weather Meters set, and can be used as a replacement part or as a stand-alone unit. The sensor has a variable resistance depending on wind direction and can resolve 16 possible directions - a complete table of resistances and their associated direction are found in the datasheet in the resources section below. The Wind Vane has a long cable terminated with a 6p4c RJ11 connector on the end. There is also a plug in the sensor's base for the companion Anemometer to plug in - this allows both sensors data to be carried in a single cable... [Read More]

2x5mm Rectangle LED – Yellow

These rectangular indicator LEDs are not going to light up the night, but they are bright enough to use as indicators in control panels or circuits. The LED measures 2mm x 5mm and 7mm tall with leads extending from the bottom. This LED is Yellow and has a forward voltage of 1.8V and current of 10mA. ... [Read More]

5V 10A SPDT Relay

This compact relay is a SPDT (single pole - dual throw) with a contact rating of up to 10A. Typically these will be used in a special footprint on a circuit board, but they can be made to fit into perfboards with a little creativity. The coil voltage is 5VDC, so applying ~5V across the coil pins will change the contact position of the relay. The contacts can handle a maximum of 10A and voltages up to 270VAC / 28VDC... Tipping Rain Gauge

This tipping rain gauge is the same sensor found in our Weather Meters set and can be used as a replacement part or as a stand-alone unit. These high quality weather proof sensors measure rainfall using a self emptying tipping bucket. Each 0.011" / 0.2794mm of rain causes one momentary contact closure that can be recorded with a digital counter or microcontroller interrupt input. The rain gauge has a long cable terminated with a 6P2C RJ11 connector. The cable can be connected directly to a RJ11 Breakout Board and hooked up on its own or to our Raspberry Pi Weather Board or SparkFun Weather Shield for Arduino. ... [Read More]

5mm Orange LED – Basic

This orange LED is not too bright, and ideal for prototyping and experimenting on a breadboard or as an indicator LED in a control panel. The LED is a 5mm / T1 3/4 and has a semi-transparent finish. To use this LED you will need a current limiting resistor; this will vary depending on your input voltage. Typically with a 5V supply we recommend a 180 ohm resistor for a single LED. These fit our Metal 5mm LED Holders best - our Plastic 5mm LED Holders fit, but due to a slight difference in diameter, these would require a little adhesive to keep them in place. ... [Read More]

5mm Infrared Emitter and Receiver

This Infrared LED and IR Receiver are what you might find in a basic Beam Break Sensor. The LED is a 940nm wavelength LED with a forward voltage of 1.2V and forward current of 100mA. The IR Receiver is tinted and should be able to “see” the IR LED from up to 8 meters away under ideal conditions. These are both in the standard 5mm (T1 3/4) LED form factor and can be mounted in our Metal 5mm LED Holders and Plastic 5mm LED Holders if needed. ... [Read More]

Mini IR Remote

This small infrared remote is an inexpensive way to control things from across the room! It features number inputs, direction controls, and a few other buttons that are generic enough to use across a wide variety of projects. The remote uses a standard 38KHz NEC code output using a 940nm infrared LED. This signal can be received with a 38KHz IR remote receiver in your project to make a simple control interface. Includes a battery – just pull the plastic shipping tab out to use!... [Read More]
