New Product Roundup – April 8th to April 14th

Saturday is here, and with that, another edition of our New Product Roundup! This week we have a new version of our Raspberry Pi Starter Kit built around the Pi3+ , a really interesting color sensor from Adafruit, and a few other bits and pieces.

Before we jump into the details about our new products – a quick reminder about our upcoming workshop: This Tuesday evening we have our ESP8266 & Arduino introductory workshop – if you are interested in taking part, we do have a few seats left. For more information (or to register) have a look at the workshop page!

Alright, lets go take a closer look at each of these new products!

30x10x3mm Rare Earth Magnet

We have had quite a few requests for a rectangular magnet – so first up, a rectangular magnet! These “Rare Earth” magnets are made from Neodymium and measure 30mm x 10mm with a 3mm thickness. They are ideal for the magnetic component of non-contact magnetic switch and their strength means that they will trigger our basic Reed Switch from up to 1.5″ away (depending on the orientation).

Please Note: Magnets of this strength should be handled with care. These are not toys, and therefore should not be kept within reach of children. Keep away from pacemakers, digital storage devices, mobile phones, and computers.

Adafruit AS7262 6-Channel Visible Light/Color Sensor Breakout

Detect trees of green, and red roses too with the new Adafruit AS7262 6-Channel Visible Light / Color Sensor Breakout. This sensor from AMS has 6 integrated visible light sensing channels for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. The sensor calculates “levels” of each of these 6 channels to give you the color makeup of what the sensor is seeing. Adafruit has placed the sensor on a PCB and included an SPI flash chip pre-programmed with the device firmware, a 3.3V regulator, I2C level shifting, and the recommended LED flash. Both the I2C and UART interfaces are broken out, making this breakout an excellent all-in-one solution for all your color-sensing needs.

Mini Volt Meter – Red (0-30V)

This mini volt gauge is similar to the two wire version we stock – with one key difference: it can be powered from a separate source from what it is monitoring. This allows the gauge to read right down to 0V without shutting off. The display will operate on 2.5 – 30VDC and measure between 0 and 30VDC.

Raspberry Pi 3+ Starter Kit

And last, but not least, we have our new Raspberry Pi Starter kit! This kit is centered around the all-new Raspberry Pi 3+ and includes all the essentials to get it up and running. Best of all, this new kit has a new, lower, price!
