New Product Roundup – March 11th to March 17th

Our weekly New Product Roundup is back today with one product you probably haven’t stopped hearing about all week… and a few others. That’s right, it’s the New Raspberry Pi 3+ (and we have good news) the first shipment of the new Raspberry Pi 3+ will be arriving very early this coming week. There will be enough to get through some of the pre-orders with further stock arriving shortly thereafter. In addition to the Pi, we also have a new USB micro cable, 300 Piece LED Multipack, and a new 2k Breadboard Friendly Potentiometer.

In other product related news: You may have noticed we now have a Back In Stock notification system up and running on the site. If an item is out of stock and you would like to know when it is back, simply subscribe to the Back In Stock Notification at the bottom of the product’s page. You will immediately receive an email stating you are on the list and another email once it arrives back in stock – simple as that!

Also, a quick reminder: we still have space left in our upcoming evening edition of the Raspberry Pi Beginner Workshop with Tim. If you would like more information on the workshop, or to sign up and reserve a spot, check out the registration page.

Alright, let’s go take a closer look at each of the new products for the week!

USB A to Micro-B – 150mm

This is a standard USB A – USB micro cable measuring ~ 150mm long. This isn’t just a charging cable, the data lines are there too so it can be used to program your Arduino Leonardo, Arduino Micro, BBC micro:bit, Adafruit Feather, Adafruit Trinket, or other USB micro equipped device. This cable is similar to the one included with the BBC micro:bit Go and Club packs.

Basic LED Multipack – 300 Pieces

Need a bunch of basic LEDs for prototyping or experimenting? This 300 pack of basic LEDs will ensure you don’t run out! The kit has 5 different colors of LED in two different sizes (3mm and 5mm). The LEDs are breadboard friendly, easy to work with, and come in a fancy storage case.

Raspberry Pi 3+

he Raspberry Pi 3+ is the newest version of the Raspberry Pi 3. With the addition of Dual Band 802.11ac Wifi and vastly improved Ethernet speeds, this new version of the Pi 3 is even more capable on the connectivity side. To further aid in network connectivity, the Pi 3+ can now support Power over Ethernet (PoE) with the addition of an external add on board. For those using the Pi in a commercial application: the dual band wireless has modular compliance certification – making this much easier to include in final products without further testing of the wireless. And last but not least, better thermal management helps this new Pi clock even higher over the previous version at 1.4GHz.

2K Ohm Breadboard Friendly Potentiometer

This very common 2K ohm linear potentiometer is designed to be mounted in an enclosure or panel. While the tabs on this pot are a little more difficult to solder wires to, they are spaced at 0.200″ making it breadboard compatible and perfect for prototyping on a solderless breadboard. The potentiometer is rated at 1/5W and has 300 degrees of rotation.
