New Product Roundup – December 10th to December 16th

It is Saturday – and that means it is time for another New Product Roundup! This week we have a few different products to showcase; A new Servo Controller mini HAT for the Pi Zero by SparkFun, a Raspberry Pi Camera / Touchscreen cable extender thingy by Adafruit, a new type of breakaway header, and a 4 pack of tactile buttons that are much better for solderless breadboards! Let’s jump in and have a closer look at each.

SparkFun Pi Servo HAT

The SparkFun Pi Servo HAT allows your Raspberry Pi to control up to 16 servo motors in a straightforward and uncomplicated manner via an I2C connection. Thanks to its I2C capabilities, this PWM HAT saves the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO, allowing you to use them for other purposes. Additionally, the Pi Servo HAT adds a serial terminal connection, which will allow you to bring up a Raspberry Pi without having to hook it up to a monitor and keyboard.

Adafruit CSI or DSI Cable Extender Thingy for Raspberry Pi

This cable adapter is very simple, it lets you connect two Raspberry Pi Camera / Screen 15-pin 1.0mm pitch cables end-to-end and extend the length. It does the funky pin rearranging and all for you, so just snap those two cables in. Carefully pry the two ears of the connectors, plug the cables with contacts pointing up, and then push the ears back in for a solid connection.

40 Pin Breakaway Male Header – Green

These breadboard compatible 0.100″ breakaway headers are just like the breakaway headers found in all of our breakout board kits – except colorful! Breakaway Headers are a great way to connect small perf-boards or breakout boards to a breadboard or other 0.100″ pitch board. The headers ship as a single 40 pin piece that can easy be snapped apart to any length required.

Multicolor Buttons – 4 Pack

This is a simple 4-pack of multicolor buttons, great for all sorts of projects! Unlike previous iterations of multicolor buttons, this pack’s tactile switches are actually recessed into the housing so they don’t accidentally fall off during use. Each pack comes with one red button, one blue button, one yellow button and one green button. The long straight legs make these much better for use in Solderless breadboards and shouldn’t pop out as easily!
