This encoder disk is designed to work with all variants of the popular “TT” style gearmotor. When used with a photo transistor and LED, the slots in the disk will briefly block the light from passing to the photo transistor, creating a measurable digital signal.

Description

Encoder disks are used to make a form of Rotary Encoder – a type of sensor typically used to measure the rotation speed of a shaft or motor. These are ideal when building a wheeled or tracked robot – they can be used to determine distance traveled, correct differences in motor speeds, and when coupled with other sensors, if it is moving or stuck!

This specific encoder disk is designed to be used with all variants of our TT Motors and opto-interrupter. The slots in the disk will briefly block the light from passing to the photo transistor, creating a measurable digital signal.

Please Note: Wheel and Gearbox Motor are sold separately.
