New Product Roundup – October 21st to October 27th

Happy Hallo-weekend! This week we don’t have anything particularly scary in our New Product Roundup, but we do have four new additions to the catalogue to talk about! We now have two incredibly tiny stepper motors – these are actually so small, they qualify for light packet shipping! We also have a new, more accurate, version of the very popular ultrasonic sensor and a larger alligator clip “grabber” kit for the SparkFun Third Hand.

New Product Roundup – October 14th to October 20th

It’s Saturday and we are back with our New Product Roundup for October 14 – 20th. This week the dominant news is the looming Canada Post Strike. Canada Post has reaffirmed they will remain open and operational despite rotating strikes by union employees. So what does this mean for you? At this time customers may experience minor delays in shipping. This will largely depend on your location and the timing of any day of rotating strikes in your region. If your order is time sensitive, we are able to ship via Purolator and FedEx, choose the courier option at the checkout.

Ok enough about shipping. We have added just a few new items to the catalogue. We have a 100 pack of smaller 4” zip ties to complement the 8” pack we added a few weeks back. We also have a new style opto-interrupter with mounting tabs for building wheel encoders, and a new Experiment Kit for the BBC micro:bit – this collection of accessories and components for the micro:bit allows you to pair it with a solderless breadboard and start using sensors, LEDs, motors, and more!

Canada Post Update

Well unfortunately, The union of Canada Post employees has issued a 72 hour strike notice. Rotating job action could start Monday October 22nd if an agreement is not reached before then. We would like to note that during the last strike the overall impact to delivery times was minimal; we saw very minor delays across the system, with only select locations seeing job action on a given day.

If you prefer not to risk it (or need to guarantee delivery dates) we are able to ship with Purolator or FedEx. If you have an account, please include it in the customer notes section of the checkout when selecting the courier option. If you do not have an account, we will be in touch with a variety of options.

We will keep you posted on this as it develops!

New Product Roundup – October 7th to October 13th

Happy Saturday everyone! We are back with our New Product Roundup for October 6 – 13th. This week, everyone was a bit groggy from a Turkey hangover… but despite that, we have managed to get a bunch of new goodies added to the site. So what is new? Well, we have a DIY Generator Kit – this complete kit allows you to build your own hand powered generator (complete with tutorial!). There is also a new, smaller, pack of low cost alligator clips, and a new miniature On/Off Rocker Switch. Finally, we went a bit Third Hand crazy this week: the coolant tubes and alligator parts kits used to add additional arms to the SparkFun Third Hand Kit are now available (and the SparkFun Third Hand Kit is back in stock as well).
