New Product Roundup – June 1st

The weekend is here, and with that, another of our New Product Roundup Posts! We have 5 new items to share and a new Product of the Week with a new discount – so let’s get to it!

New Products
First up this week we have a new 2 x 18650 battery holder – these are hold two 18650 batters in series and have a nominal pack voltage of ~7.4V . Next up we have a new soldering station – the Xytronic LF-2900 is a 100W professional grade soldering iron. Officially they have been discontinued, however we have secured a large quantity of these irons at significant savings – perfect time to upgrade – available while quantities last! We also added a new DC barrel jack; this standard PCB mount DC Barrel Jack is the one you typically find mounted to most circuit boards. Next up, we have a new DPDT pushbutton. This tiny Dual Pole, Dual Throw (DPDT) latching On/Off pushbutton has a breadboard and perfboard compatible footprint. Finally, we have a new 14x14mm heatsink – perfect for the Raspberry Pi!

Product Of The Week – 50% Off!
Product of the Week is a 4xAA Battery Case. The battery case connects 4 AA batteries in series and have 5″ leads. These are 50% Off until Friday at midnight – so don’t miss out!

2 x 18650 Battery Holder

This battery case is a lot like our AA and AAA battery cases – it is just designed to fit the much larger (and incredibly common) 18650 Lithium cells. These batteries pack a ton of power for their size and are perfect for LED flashlights to autonomous robots. This case allows these cells to be securely mounted into a project with relative ease. This version holds 2 x 18650 batteries wired in series, with a voltage of ~7.4V.

Xytronic LF-2900 100W Soldering Station

The Xytronic LF-2900 is a powerhouse of a soldering station – at 100W it is the most powerful iron we sell. Recovery times are almost non-existent. The iron operates from temperature ranges of 100 – 500°C ( 212 – 932°F) and is ESD safe. A long heat-resistant silicon cable connects the wand to the base station. The iron is easy to maneuver and does not suffer from the same mobility problems of the lower cost handheld soldering irons. The iron uses B01 series soldering tips.

Please Note: We have managed to secure these irons at a significant savings. Available for a limited time – once these are sold out, they are no longer available. Ships in 10 – 12 business days.

DC Barrel 2.1mm Jack/Connector

This standard PCB mount DC Barrel Jack is the one you typically find mounted to most circuit boards. The large tabs fit nicely into the standard PCB footprint. So if something unfortunate has happened to your existing connector – this is probably the replacement.

On/Off Mini Pushbutton – DPDT

This tiny Dual Pole, Dual Throw (DPDT) latching On/Off pushbutton has a breadboard and perfboard compatible footprint. The footprint isn’t exactly 0.1” / 2.54mm, but close enough to work. The button will latch on when pressed. To shut it off, simply press it again and it will release.

14 x 14mm Heatsink

Any high power motor driver, linear voltage regulator, or other SOC will get hot when pushed to its limits – a heatsink will help dissipate heat and keep things running cool. These 14 x 14 mm heatsinks stand 6mm tall and include adhesive thermal tape on the back. This tape will help keep the heatsink in place and improve the transfer of heat from the chip to the aluminum of the heatsink. These are ideally suited for the Raspberry Pi 3+ series of boards.

New Tutorial!

Raspberry Pi Irrigation Control – Part 3
The third installment of our four part Raspberry Pi Irrigation Controller tutorial is now up. This tutorial covers writing a program that will run our solenoids for predefined times, read our sensors, and email us once it has finished running. We also look at scheduling this program to run using a cron job so you can adhere to local watering restrictions! Interested? Head on over to the tutorial!
