New Product Roundup – May 25th

Happy Saturday! It was a short week here with the Victoria Day holiday last Monday – but we still have four new additions to showcase and a new product of the week for today’s New Product Roundup. Lets get to it!

New Products
First up today we have we have another super handy parts assortment – this one is full of different multiturn potentiometers. These are breadboard / perfboard friendly and are great for prototyping. Next up, we have another variation of our Dupont connector housings. This version has 9 pins and works with the standard Dupont male and female crimp connectors. We also added a new hobby knife set; these are ideal for trimming plastic, thin wood, removing electrical tape, and heat shrink tubing. Each set includes 5 extra blades. Finally, we have had a lot of requests for a smaller “project sized” soldering / rework mat; this measures 23 x 18 cm / 9 x 7″ – big enough for most projects.

Product Of The Week – 40% Off!
Product of the Week is a Float Switch. These switches are designed to let you know if liquid is above a certain level. These are 40% Off until Friday at midnight – so don’t miss out!

Multiturn Trimmer Potentiometer Kit – 50 Pcs

Multiturn trimpots are a more accurate version of a trim potentiometer. Instead of less than 300 degrees to cross the entire potentiometer range, these pots take 25 full 360 degree turns! This resolution allows for precise resistance to be set without too much fiddling around. This 50 piece kit has 10 different values ranging from 500 Ohm to 1M Ohm.

9 Pin Dupont Connector

hether you are modifying our 3” / 6” / 12” x 40 prototyping wires or building your own cables using the crimp on connections, these plastic housings are a must! These 9 pin housings fit the standard “Dupont” male and female pins. Simply remove the single pin housings and slide them into this larger connector.

Hobby Knife with 5 Extra Blades

This extremely sharp knife is great for precision trimming and cutting. Removing electrical tape and heat shrink tubing is no longer a difficult task. They are also great for cutting plastics (like styrene) and thin woods (like balsa). This knife set includes 5 spare blades. We like to keep these around the shop – they always come in handy!

Insulated Silicone Rework Mat – 23x18cm

This silicone mat is perfect for protecting your table / desk. It is a stable, strong, non-slip, non-conductive and heat-resistant surface ideal for soldering and hot air rework. This mat is 23cm wide, 18 cm tall and 3mm thick.

New Tutorial!

Raspberry Pi Irrigation Control – Part 3
The third installment of our four part Raspberry Pi Irrigation Controller tutorial is now up. This tutorial covers writing a program that will run our solenoids for predefined times, read our sensors, and email us once it has finished running. We also look at scheduling this program to run using a cron job so you can adhere to local watering restrictions! Interested? Head on over to the tutorial!
