New Product Roundup – May 18th

Welcome back to a holiday weekend edition of our New Product Roundup! This week we added several new products to go over, but first a quick reminder: We are closed on Monday for the Victoria Day holiday.

New Products
This week we have 8 new products to share! First up we have another version of momentary tactile button with removable cap. This version is also breadboard compatible and features a square button cap. Next up we added four different versions of a nice On/Off 16mm backlit pushbutton. These are IP65 and latch on/off. We also added two new Dupont connector housings – a 6 pin and 8 pin version for more custom cable creation. And lastly, a 4 x 18650 battery holder. This battery holder connects each battery in series and provides a nominal voltage of 14.8V

Square Tactile Button – Yellow

This tactile button works like any other momentary tactile button but it has a yellow 10x10mm square button cap. The button cap is detachable and makes the button a lot easier to press. These are still breadboard / solderless breadboard compatible. The pins are normally open (disconnected) and when the button is pressed they are momentarily closed.

16mm Panel Mount On/Off – 9-24V Red LED

These chrome-plated metal power buttons are rugged and look great! Simply drill a 16mm hole into any material up to 13mm / ~1/2″ thick and you can fit these in place. The button is IP65 rated and there's even a rubber gasket to keep water out of the enclosure. This button is a single pole / dual throw (SPDT) on/off switch with an independent LED circuit complete with resistor – just apply 9-24V and it will light up.

Whether you are modifying our 3” / 6” / 12” x 40 prototyping wires or building your own cables using the crimp on connections, these plastic housings are a must! These 6 pin housings fit the standard “Dupont” male and female pins. Simply remove the single pin housings and slide them into this larger connector.

4 x 18650 Battery Holder

This battery case is a lot like our AA and AAA battery cases – it is just designed to fit the much larger (and incredibly common) 18650 Lithium cells. These batteries pack a ton of power for their size and are perfect for LED flashlights to autonomous robots. This case allows these cells to be securely mounted into a project with relative ease. This version holds 4 x 18650 batteries wired in series, with a voltage of ~14.8V.

New Tutorial!

Raspberry Pi Irrigation Control – Part 3
The third installment of our four part Raspberry Pi Irrigation Controller tutorial is now up. This tutorial covers writing a program that will run our solenoids for predefined times, read our sensors, and email us once it has finished running. We also look at scheduling this program to run using a cron job so you can adhere to local watering restrictions! Interested? Head on over to the tutorial!
