New Product Roundup – March 9th

It’s Saturday and that means we are back with another New Product Roundup! This week we have four new items in the catalogue, a product and build tutorial announcement, and a new Product Of The Week to share. Lets go have a look!

New Products
New to the catalogue this week, we have another fairly strong, economical, NEMA 17 Stepper Motor with a 5mm output shaft. Continuing with the CNC theme, there is also another new GT2 pulley. We have a lot of different sizes of pulley with a 5mm bore, but nothing in 8mm… until now! The 20 tooth pulley will fit any 8mm shaft. A new coreless DC motor was also added this week – the 716 sized motor hits speeds of 40000RPM with 3.7V. And finally, adding to the gauges, we have a green version of our three wire mini voltage gauge.

Raspberry Pi Irrigation Board
Just in time for spring, we will be releasing our Raspberry Pi Irrigation Board. This board is designed to help your Raspberry Pi handle just about anything you could need in your garden irrigation system. Along with our new board, we have another multi-part project tutorial that will guide you through building your very own IoT irrigation system – stay tuned for that!

Product Of The Week
Product of the week is our 16GB Kingston Class 10 MicroSD Card. These are perfect for all versions of the Raspberry Pi, Data Logging, mobile phones, and more! 15% Off until Friday at Midnight!

GT2 Timing Pulley – 20 Tooth 8mm Bore

This GT2 timing pully has 20 teeth and an 8mm bore. The larger bore its any 8mm diameter shaft and the two set screws will help keep it from slipping. The pully is designed to work with all forms of 6mm wide GT2 belt we carry in stock.

Stepper Motor – NEMA17 – 73oz.in

Stepper motors are great motors for position control. They can be found in desktop printers, plotters, 3d printers, CNC milling machines, and anything else requiring precise position control. This specific NEMA 17 Stepper Motor offers 73 oz.in of torque and 200 steps per revolution. Additionally, the motor has a handy JST connector, meaning the included 1000mm wires can be disconnected directly from the motor.

Mini Volt Meter – Green (0-30V)

This mini volt gauge allows for a separate power source from what it is monitoring; meaning the gauge to read right down to 0V without shutting off. To connect this gauge simply connect the Red wire to a positive pole on an external power source, the Black wire to the ground pole of the external power source and the ground of the circuit you are monitoring, and the Yellow wire to the point which you would like to measure voltage (see attached diagram).

716 Coreless Motor – 3.7V

Small high speed motors are common in micro drones and flying kids toys these days. This standard “716” Coreless Motor measures 7mm in diameter and 16mm in length and is perfectly suited to any small application where a high rotational speed is required. The motor runs on 3.7V, so it is ideally suited to run from a single lithium battery cell. The motor hits ~40,000 RPM without a load. Current draw ranges from 110mA free running to 1.54A at stall. Ships with wires attached, measuring ~80mm in length.

New Tutorial!

Getting Started With Blynk On The Raspberry Pi 3+
Blynk is a powerful Internet of Things (IoT) app for iOS and Android that allows you to control your Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or ESP8266 from your mobile phone. In this tutorial we are going to look at the basics of setting up Blynk for the Raspberry Pi. Unlike the Arduino platform, setting it up on the Raspberry Pi is a little more involved so we have made this handy tutorial to get you up and running in no time. Interested? Head on over to the tutorial!
