New Product Roundup – February 2nd

It’s Saturday and that means we are back with another New Product Roundup! This week we have added a bunch of new items to the catalogue, a new Product Of The Week, and a great new shipping promotion to share.

New Products
So what is new this week? Well we have two new Hakko soldering tips – these are perfect replacements for the Atten AT-937. Next up, we have a new (and easy to use) finger print sensor. Adding to our servo collection, we now carry a continuous rotation micro servo. In the Pi section we have added a new 40 pin GPIO cable. In the tools section we found another type of Ceramic Screwdriver. And finally, we have the new SparkFun RedBoard Qwiic.

Product Of The Week
Product of the week is our Ultrasonic Distances Sensor – These are an excellent, low cost, way to measure distance and keep your robot from crashing into things. 15% Off until Friday at Midnight!

Shipping Promotion
$2.00 Light Packet Shipping is Back! This economical shipping method is available for over 850 parts in our catalogue and best of all, it ships anywhere in Canada for the same low price! Want to know more? Check out our post here.

Hakko T18-S4 Soldering Tip

Looking for a finer tip for your Hakko or Hakko compatible iron? The T18-S4 is an excellent fine point tip, great for any larger SMT parts and other delicate work. The tip is Lead and Lead-Free compatible (simply set the iron to the temperature required for the solder you are using).

GPIO Ribbon Cable For Raspberry Pi – 40 Pin

Need to connect your Raspberry Pi to another circuit board? Or Make your own custom connection? This 40 Pin ribbon cable fits on the Raspberry Pi GPIO header and makes it easy to connect your Pi to another device.

Fingerprint Sensor JM-101

Dive into biometric security with this easy to use fingerprint sensor! This fingerprint sensor simplifies the process of fingerprint detection, storage, and verification. Inside the sensor is a high power DSP chip that does all image rendering, calculation, feature finding, and searching.

Hakko T18-D24 Soldering Tip

Looking for a big “screwdriver tip for your Hakko or Hakko compatible iron? The T18-D24 is an excellent flat point (Screwdriver / Chisel) tip, great for any larger through hold parts and other heavier cleanup work. The tip is Lead and Lead-Free compatible (simply set the iron to the temperature required for the solder you are using).

Ceramic Screwdriver – Flat 2.5mm YR-034F

Ceramic screwdrivers are extremely useful to have around the workbench. These are specifically designed for tuning and adjusting electrically sensitive equipment as they are anti-static, non-conductive, and anti-magnetic.

Micro Continuous Rotation Servo – FS90R

The FS90R is a micro servo that has been built specifically for continuous rotation. This servo offers an inexpensive and easy to control method of getting your small turret spinning or miniature robot moving. This servo can work with both 5 V and 3.3 V servo signals and has a standard servo connector.

SparkFun Redboard Qwiic

The newest version of the SparkFun RedBoard is here! SparkFun has multiple versions of the Arduino-compatible SparkFun RedBoard, but until now, none of them had a Qwiic connector. Qwiic is an easy way to connect up I2C sensors using a single cable – perfect for beginners, wanting to use complex, and sometimes expensive, I2C sensors without the risk of connecting it up wrong.

New Tutorial!

Using an Ultrasonic Distance Sensor With Arduino
In this tutorial we will be looking at how to use an Ultrasonic Sensor to measure distance using an Arduino. These sensors are generally inexpensive, fairly accurate, and not affected by lighting conditions like infrared based systems. We will be looking at three Ultrasonic sensors, these are all code compatible but require subtle changes in the wiring due to differing pinouts. Interested? Head on over to the tutorial!
