New Product Roundup – October 8th to October 14th

Welcome back to another edition of our Saturday New Product Roundup! This week we have a brand new MicroPython / Circuit Python microcontroller from Adafruit Industries, a new Arduino case, and a different style of EL wire inverter just in time for last minute Halloween projects. We also have a popular starter kit back in stock for the Raspberry Pi. Let’s go have a closer look!

EL Inverter – 12V

An EL inverter is required to drive electroluminescent wires. This EL inverter can plug in to a 12V Power Adapter (or other 12V power source) and has a JST PH connector on the opposite end. The board is designed to plug into an EL Sequencer but you can directly drive EL wire, EL strips, and EL panels as well. The inverter is powerful enough to run up to 15 meters of EL wire!

Adafruit Metro M0 Express – Designed for CircuitPython

The Adafruit Metro M0 Express is the first version of the Metro designed for use with CircuitPython (Adafruit’s beginner-oriented version of MicroPython). But, it isn’t limited to this – it can also be programmed using the Arduino IDE as well. Hardware-wise the Metro M0 is based on the ARM Cortex M0+ ATSAMD21G18 and features a 48MHz clock speed, a whopping 256K of FLASH (8x more than the Uno) and 32K of RAM (16x more than the Uno).

Clear Enclosure for Arduino, Metro, Redboard

We are often asked for a simple Arduino case – just something simple to protect it. There are larger cases out there, but they are usually specific to one board. Adafruit has found a great alternative – and best of all it fits much more than the basic Uno. It fits just about anything in the Arduino Uno R3 format. The Arduino case is made of 2 clear plastic halves and is low enough profile, that shields can still be stacked on top! Each package includes the case, 4 screws, and 4 rubber bumpers.

Raspberry Pi Zero W Starter Kit

This Raspberry Pi Zero W Starter Kit hasn’t been the easiest to get in the past – but we now have plenty available! The kit includes a Pi Zero W and all the little bits and pieces you need to get it up and running. The Raspberry Pi Zero W features integrated Bluetooth and WiFi in addition to all of the features of the Raspberry Pi Zero 1.3.
