New Product Roundup – September 17th to September 23rd
Another Saturday means another New Product Roundup! Probably the most exciting news this week was our announcement of our flat rate shipping charge dropping to $11.95 for all Canadian Customers – but in addition to that we added a bunch of new products to the shop as well! This week we have some great new EL wire products from SparkFun – just in time to get started with those glowing Halloween projects! We have also added a new 2.5 x 5.5mm DC barrel plug for all of those devices that don’t fit the 2.1mm plug. Let’s go have a closer look!

DC Barrel Plug – 5.5 x 2.5mmThe DC barrel plug is a very common connector; these power connectors are found on just about everything! This DIY plug is great for adding a common connector to the end of wires. The 5.5 x 2.5mm plug is the “larger” version of this common connector – if the 2.1mm version does not fit, this is probably the correct connector.

EL Wire Starter Kit – BlueThis kit includes everything you need to get started with EL wire (even the batteries!). Simply plug in the EL wire to the inverter, add batteries, and turn it on – that’s it!

EL Wire – PurpleEL Wire (electroluminescent wire) is a special wire that emits light when electric current is passed through it. This piece of EL wire is 3 meters long and can be bent / twisted in fairly sharp corners. This specific EL Wire glows a Purple / Blue color. The pre-terminated connection plugs directly into the SparkFun EL Inverter (not included).

EL Wire – GreenAnd finally, we also have this really nice 3 meter Green EL Wire. This isn’t the normal Yellow / Green (Lime Green) that most EL wire tends to be; this is actually a very nice medium green! The pre-terminated connection plugs directly into the SparkFun EL Inverter (not included).
