New Product Roundup – May 7 to May 13th

Welcome back to another weekly installment of our New Product Roundup! This week we are excited to announce a new Raspberry Pi HAT designed and built in house, the addition of ABS filament to our 3D Printing section, another variation of a 4xAA battery case, and an Adafruit PWM breakout that is once again being stocked. Let’s go have a look!

1.75mm ABS Filament for 3D Printers – Black 1KG

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a commonly used alternative to PLA filament in 3D printing. ABS filament provides a stronger, more temperature resistant print at the expense of being a little less forgiving to work with when compared to PLA. The filament is made from 100% virgin ABS and is shipped in a vacuum sealed package to ensure quality print material.

1.75mm ABS Filament for 3D Printers – White 1KG

In addition to Black ABS, we also have White in stock! And just like our PLA filament, this ABS filament is top quality and has been tested with a wide variety of printers for compatibility. The filament is made from 100% virgin ABS and is shipped in a vacuum sealed package to ensure quality print material.

Adafruit 16-Channel 12-bit PWM / Servo Breakout

Looking to build an Arduino or Raspberry Pi based robot? Drive a ton of LEDs with a very precise PWM output? This Adafruit PWM Breakout Board has you covered! It is an ideal way to drive LEDs, control servo motors, and just about anything else that can accept a PWM or Servo signal. The breakout is 3.3V and 5V compliant, which means it is compatible with just about any microcontroller or single board computer out there (provided it has I2C capabilities). There are 6 available I2C jumpers broken out on the board meaning up to 62 of these breakouts can be chained together, creating a total of 992 PWM outputs – that’s a lot of servos!

4 x AA Battery Case – Basic Flat

It seems we can never have enough different types of battery case. This battery case holds 4 AA batteries and connects them in series. The output voltage with 4 standard AA batteries will be approximately 6VDC. The case has 5” wire leads, red being positive and black being negative. The case has two small mounting holes for attaching it to your project; alternatively a good double sided tape could be used on the smooth back.

Raspberry Pi Power + RTC HAT

We have another new board designed and built here at BC Robotics! Two of the biggest challenges with the Raspberry Pi 3 in portable/mobile/automotive applications is the lack of an accurate way to keep time and a flexible input DC power supply. The Raspberry Pi 3 Power / RTC HAT solves this problem! Onboard is a fused and reverse polarity protected DC input coupled to a beefy 3A 5V DC/DC converter and a very nice temperature compensated DS3231 Real Time Clock.
