New Product Roundup – March 5th to March 11th

Happy Saturday! Time for another weekly installment of our New Product Roundup! This week we have a three of our own creations – these are designed and built in house at BC Robotics. Let’s go have a closer look!

Raspberry Pi Fan HAT

Over the years the Raspberry Pi has become much more powerful, and with each improvement, the Pi has run slightly hotter. Under heavy processing load the Raspberry Pi 3 can reach temperatures of 80C and will start throttling the CPU back to ensure it does not overheat. Slowing the processor to keep it running stable isn’t ideal for high performance applications so we created the 40mm Fan HAT!

Medium Flanged Enclosure – Black

Once your project is up and running you may need somewhere safe to put it! The Hammond 1591B is IP 54 rated (meaning it is protected from dust and splashing water) and has a nice mounting flange with several mounting holes on each end. We also build a 1591B proto board which mounts directly inside this case!

1591B Proto Board

This medium sized perfboard is specifically designed to fit Hammond 1591B flanged enclosures. The 4 mounting holes in each corner make this a perfect fit for the box and the combination of the two parts make a great starting point for a fully enclosed project. The board itself is FR4 PCB material with a 1oz copper layer and plated through holes – it will stand up to quite a bit of abuse!

RJ45 Breakout Board

Ethernet cable is one of the cheapest and most commonly used cables out there. The trouble is, when using this cable for anything other than networking, the RJ45 connectors on each end are quite hard to work with. The narrow pins are very hard to make contact with on their own and the mating connectors are not breadboard compatible. This RJ45 breakout solves the problem! The simple board breaks out all 8 conductors to a breadboard compatible header.
