The Raspberry Pi Zero

This evening the Raspberry Pi Foundation unveiled its newest creation: The Raspberry Pi Zero. The Zero is about as cheap as it gets with single board computing (well I guess we will see about that!) but still packs a punch. At $5.00 USD this little Pi manages to have a 1GHz single core processor with 512 MB of RAM, a micro-HDMI connector, USB micro, and an unpopulated 40 pin GPIO header. The Zero scraps the camera and display ports, Ethernet, most of the USB, and analog audio/video ports. It is truly a stripped down version of the Raspberry Pi concept; but as an exercise in making a low cost, relatively high powered, single board computer… the results are astounding.

Update: We are now taking pre-orders for the Raspberry Pi Zero.

As there is a very limited number of Pi Zeros available we are certain the demand will quickly outstrip the supply. We will be taking pre-orders for this product in the near future – if you would like to receive an email from us once this pre-order becomes available please drop us an email at pre-order@bc-robotics.com
