New Product Roundup – August 6th to August 12th

It is Saturday and that means it is time for another New Product Roundup! This week we added a few new accessories for the incredibly popular BBC micro:bit. Two new carrier boards allow you to build a micro:bit based robot or a micro:bit based gaming system. Need to go mobile? We also have a battery pack specifically designed for the micro:bit. We have also added some smaller 2/56 hardware for mounting breakout boards. Let’s go have a closer look at each!

SparkFun moto:bit

The SparkFun moto:bit is a fully loaded “carrier” board for the micro:bit that, when combined with the micro:bit, provides you with a fully functional robotics platform. The moto:bit offers a simple, beginner-friendly robotics controller capable of operating a basic robotics chassis. Onboard each moto:bit are multiple I/O pins capable of hooking up servos, sensors and other circuits. At the flip of the switch you can get your micro:bit moving!

SparkFun gamer:bit

The SparkFun gamer:bit is a fun-filled “carrier” board for the micro:bit that, when combined with the micro:bit, provides you with a fully functional game system. Designed in a similar form factor to the classic Nintendo NES controller, the gamer:bit is equipped with a four-direction “D-pad” on the left side of the board and two action buttons on the right side of the board. The two push buttons on the micro:bit in the center function as start and select.

2 x AA Battery Holder with JST-PH

This unique two-cell AA battery holder is built specifically for the BBC micro:bit. The 6″ (~150mm) cable has been terminated with a JST-PH connector. The connector mates the JST socket on the micro:bit perfectly, allowing you to easily make your project battery powered.

2/56 Nut – Stainless Steel

A good selection of hardware is always nice to have around when prototyping. These tiny 2/56 nuts are stainless steel and have dimensions of 3/16″ width by 1/16″ thick. They are perfect for attaching small breakout boards where mounting holes are tiny or space is very limited!

2/56 x 1/2″ Phillips (Single)

Machine screws are used to hold down circuit boards and other parts in your project. These screws are a 2/56 thread by 1/2″ long and are compatible with all 2/56 standoffs and nuts in our store. These tend to work well with smaller breakout boards with tiny mounting holes!
