New Product Roundup – February 5th to February 11th

Welcome back to another edition of our Saturday New Product Roundup! This is the best kind of Saturday, the Saturday of a long weekend! This week we have just a few small items to go through – so let’s get to it!

1N4148 Diode – 200mA 100V

Our first product of the week isn’t that exciting but it can be quite useful: The 1N4148 is a standard silicon switching diode best used for high speed switching applications. The diode features a reverse recovery time of 4ns, meaning speeds of up to 100MHz can be achieved. These are very commonly used in a wide variety of projects – a good one to have around!

SparkFun Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout – LIS3DH

The LIS3DH Breakout is a smart, low-power, three-axis, capacitive micro-machined accelerometer with 12 bits of resolution that you can use to add translation detection to your project. It would be classified as a 3DoF, or 3 Degrees of Freedom. The LIS3DH is easy to set up; just wire up your choice of interface (SPI or I2C), supply 3.3V, and ground. This sensor works nicely with a breadboard for easy connection, and, because it gives some mass to the accelerometer, it more closely matches what might be expected from a project or cellphone.

Mini Drill Bit Set – 0.3mm to 1.2mm

Small drill bits are a great thing to have at any work bench. This set of 10 tiny bits range from 0.3mm to 1.2mm in 0.1mm increments. Each carbide bit has a 1/8” (3.175mm) shank which should work with a variety of rotary and hand tools.

Raspberry Pi 3 Case – Basic

There are quite few choices for Raspberry Pi cases these days. This simple clear case is made in two parts and can be run with the top half off if desired. The bottom of the case is ventilated and has nice clean openings for all of the major ports and connection points on the Pi. The top half of the case has a snap in holder for a Raspberry Pi Camera (version 1 or version 2) – meaning no separate case is required for the Pi Camera! The case is compatible with the Raspberry Pi B+, Raspberry Pi 2, and the Raspberry Pi 3.
